Regarding the The specific date of July was for the sole reason that I wanted the thriller magazine to be released in the summer as the majority of my audience are in their last years of high school taking GCSEs or A- Levels and as I want it to be a highly grossed movie I want to give everyone a chance to see it. I felt that summer holidays would be the best option as everyone is free at that time of the year.

Also after doing some research I felt that some of the other cover lines should write what they are discussing not just the name of actor or movie. However that does happen at times to I put a few just names in my other cover lines.

Possible Names For My Film

The Ultimate Game

6 Hours

Firestorm

Pro Ant

The Only Way

The Choice

Havoc

Result Of My Teaser Trailer Questionnaire

When I asked what music they expected to hear in a teaser trailer, everyone with an exception to a very few felt that very quick tempo music is what a thriller needs to really captivate an audience. This would highlight the quick pace of the of a thriller. This reflects to what I have already found about thriller movie music.

When asking about how the relationship should pan out between the protagonist and antagonist. The replies to the three options given were very even and honestly they could all make the ultimate thriller movie. so this is going to be a really hard choice when the time comes.

With regards to if there should be taglines and the names of actors on my thriller teaser trailer the majority felt it was needed as it adds to the excitement.

Also when asking about if the fonts should be the same on poster and trailer. It was an unanimous yes as it shows that they are representing the same movie.

I'll take this feedback into consideration when making my teaser trailer.

Questionnaire For My Teaser Trailer

This is a questionnaire asking the public what they would like to see in thriller teaser trailer. The information I gather here will then be incorporated into what I already know through my secondary research.

Result Of My Magazine Questionnaire

The results of my magazine questionnaire came unsurprising to me. They essentially correlated with my secondary research which I now know was done well.

When asking where the masthead should be placed, I'd already thought of this through all my secondary research. In my secondary research I found that in all the mainstream magazines I looked at, the masthead came at the top of the page. However I wasn't 100% sure, and it's ultimately what the public want. The questionnaire came back with the majority feeling that the rightful place for the masthead should be at the top of the page. This primary research is backing up what I already know through my secondary research.

When I asked who should be front cover, most of the people (85%) said the main protagonist. However others wanted the antagonist on the magazine front cover. I opted for the main protagonist for the sole reason that the protagonist is more well known which means more people are going to buy the magazine.

Most people felt that dark colours are most suitable as we are representing a thriller. They questionnaire also came back to ell me that people will rather have big budget films and well known actors on the front cover, this goes on to emphasise the type of magazine that I am representing.

I'll go on and consider all this information and add it to what I already know through my secondary research.

Questionnaire For My Magazine Front Cover

In order to gain a full understanding on what the public want on my magazine front cover I've decided to make a questionnaire with questions on layouts design and content which attract buyers. I have compiled a set of question which will ultimately help me design my magazine front cover.
The questions are as follows:

Where would you expect the name of the magazine to be?

  • Top of the page
  • Middle of the page
  • Bottom of the page
Who would you expect to be on the front cover?
  • Lead Protagonist
  • Lead Antagonist
  • Director
  • Other
What would you expect the colours to be like?
  • Muted
  • Dark
  • Soft and Pastel
Would you expect to see large amounts of text?
  • Yes
  • No
  • Not Sure
What would you expect the cover lines to be referencing? (pick more then one)
  • Big budgeted films
  • Well known actors
  • Other thrillers
  • Directors
  • Producers
What font do you expect to be used?
  • Bold and square
  • Rounded and soft
  • Times New Roman

Result of my Questionnaire Poster

Most of the results came too no surprise. It came to confirm what I already knew from analysing posters. The result of my questionnaire poster is as follows:

Almost everyone that I gave this questionnaire too came to the conclusion that I should have the main Protagonist holding a gun as this shows that the main protagonist is a brave person, but he is alone against the inevitable antagonist.

I had noticed through my secondary research that the backgrounds were mostly dark colours. This was confirmed in my questionnaires where 90% said dark colours and the rest said fiery colours. I felt this is true as a soft pastel colour wont fit in and will clash against a protagonist with a gun. Some felt that a fiery colour will add to the thrill of the man with a gun. But I opted out of that theory and felt that a dark colour will bring out more and put focus directly on the protagonist.

Another thing that I noticed through my secondary research was that the background on thriller posters linked to the main image. I put this in my questionnaire to see if other people thought the same, the result came back with over 85% saying they would love to see the background linking back to the main image. I felt now that my secondary research was linking with what the actual public wants to see.

I have already done considerable amount of research on what the certificate should be in my movie. I've decided that it will be a 12 but i still wasn't 100% sure if i was right so I decided to put it in my questionnaire to see what the thriller fans thought. The results came back with a lot of the public saying 12 whereas there was also many people that felt it should be a 15 as they felt there would be a lot of action, sexual scenes and even maybe some drugs. However I felt that I would keep those things to minimum so that the wider public can enjoy the movie.

When asking if the font should be upper or lower case, my research already told me that uppercase shows that what I am presenting is a big blockbuster and 98% of the public agreed that uppercase fully represented my movie.

Most of the public agreed with me that the release date should be in the summer holidays when all he big thrillers come out as that is the time when people have the most time to o and watch a thriller. This means at that time the revenue will be greater.

Most of the public that returned my questionnaire felt that having a tagline will add greatness to my poster and actors names attract the public to go and watch the movie.

Finally reviews was a big question, I didn't know if I should or shouldn't add it to my poster. The result came back 50% for and 50% against which I feared. But after much thought I decided to go with reviews because deep down I felt that are many people (evidently 50%) that reviews were important so as I am trying to cater for as many people as possible I'm going to add reviews in my poster.
